Weekend Update

For all of you that were not present for the impromptu boys weekend, we had a great time. Saturday was really one of the best boy's days in a long time. It started off with a Squirrel Nest breakfast at 9:00am. Phil ordered the Big Squirrel on his first visit to the Nest (The Big Squirrel is a three egg omelet with every left over from the night before stuffed into it). I have a feeling Phil grew quite a "Squirrel Tail" later in the day. After the nest we went to Goose Pond for our 10:52 tee time, only to find out they were 1 hour behind on their times due to two different scrambles earlier in the morning. We had the head of the pro shop call Jimmy over at Goose Pond Plantation to see if they had a 10:50 tee time. They did - we pursued. We showed up at the Plantation. Rain started, so we decided to sit in the lounge area of the double-wide and play a hold'em tournement with golf tees as poker chips. Phil won the first $5 buy in, and came close to winning the second $5 buy in game - Jeremy was down 85 tees to 15 and it was time to go play. jeremy, in true fashion, would not give up the game and instead tried to bargain with Phil to split the pot 50-50. Phil declined the offer - I think they settled it with a game of crack after the hold'em tournement later that night (see below). The course was in good shape, unfortunately my game was not. It was quite a shock to challenge James to a Nassau only to have him play the game of his life and tie his personal best of 82. I am now the proud owner of the shaft. My bag feels at peace again with the comfort of the shaft in the bag. Jeremy and Phil had an exciting Nassau. Jeremy bested Phil's 79 with a 78, winning the match on the final hole. We left golf and everyone went to their own house to bathe. We met back at my house for grilled hamburger dinner. It was great to spend time with James, Jen, Phil, Amanda, Pierson (cute little fella), Kevin, Angie, and Jeremy. At 10, the ladies, babies, Kevin, and Angie left - leaving the men to do what men do best. We pulled the round table into the middle of the room and played a $10 buy in hold'em tournament. We drank a big pitcher of Margarrita's and watched Phil eat an entire bowl of queso dip. James won the night game and now has enough money to pay for gas to get back to Wiscy. The evening festivities ended at about 1:00am. It really was one of the best days in Boy's Weekend history. We missed you Matt, James said he would have taken you in the golf match. Can't wait to see what next year brings. I vote for another travel weekend.

Hey now, a 92 from the tips isn't something to be too ashamed of. You forgot to mention that I won $4 from you before you manipulated it back.

Yes, it was an epic day on Saturday. Larry forgot to add that I learned parenting tips from Jeremy. Everytime I picked up Pierson he went into cry mode, yet Jeremy had him laughing and giggling. There so naive at that age.

The real question is this...when is the next get-together? Auburn game this fall...skiing this winter...surfing in Costa Rica next summer? So many choices. And yes, for those wives that keep up with the blog, all talks were to include the families.

By the way, Larry (or Amanda), can you post the recipe for porch margaritas...great stuff.

We head to Arkansas tomorrow before concluding the southern tour on Monday.
