Juno - 5 out of 5 stars

Jen and I went to see Juno last night. First of all, we went to a Sundance Theater that opened in the last year here in Madison. Apparently the only other one is in San Francisco. It's a very cool atmosphere with a little cafe/restaurant. You can buy beer and wine to take into the movie with you...legally. The theater itself wasn't much better, if at all, but overall, it seemed a little more upscale than the local megaplex.

The movie itself was great. Ellen Page was unbelievable as Juno, almost to good at times as a quick witted 16 year old. Michael Cera was superb as well. However, I think my favorite character was Juno's dad, played by JK Simmons. I'm not saying he's the model for fatherhood, but in a strange way, I thought he was a great representation of what Christianity should look like. People screw up and make mistakes. He wasn't judgmental, he didn't bail, he was there for her and basically treated her the same throughout the whole journey. Anyway, I encourage you to check this flick out if you get the chance.

I am looking forward to seeing this movie. I have been intrigued ever since I saw the preview. Now, with the Dinsmore recommendation, I will make an effort to see it before it leaves the theater.

HSV has a new theater with the bar built in. Its called Monaco and located in BridgeStreet - the new development in Research Park with lots of medium to high end shops, restaurants, and hotels.

Maybe we will get to it this weekend.

I am at home today with the kids. Amanda, who is now the associate youth director at Trinity, is coming home from a ski trip with the youth. They spent the long weekend in West Virginia. She said the snow was crappy - nothin better than skiing when its 48 degrees on the mountain.

She loves her job by the way. She was made for this job!

Jen and I went to Bridge Street over Christmas...very nice. My parents referred to the theater as an "adult theater" and I was like....what? Ohhhh, you can buy beer and wine.

That's awesome for Amanda. I remember a few ski trips to the mountains of West Virgina, or was it North Carolina. All I remember is pushing the bus up a snowy hill. Very safe.

Ahh yes, the good ol' Ski Beech North Carolina trips. Good times. Cece and I were talking about how much we'd like to go see Juno. Then we tried to remember the last time we went to the theatre. We figure it must have been Knocked Up in June.

The youth group from our church, St. Brigid's was at Snowshoe, WV this weekend as well. Maybe they hung out together. That is so perfect that Amanda is working with the youth program. I can't think of a better person to be mentoring Trinity's youth. Makes me proud that Amanda is carrying on the tradition!
