I don't know if you guys have heard, but Brendan passed away last night. He had been mowing his yard, came in and showered, and Marla found him unconscious on the bathroom floor. She tried to administer CPR, but to no avail. I don't have any more details. I will pass them along once more is known. Very tragic. He leaves behind two young children.

Holy crap. That is sad, sad news.
I'm still just in shock when I think about it. Larry, I spoke with Phil last night, but Rusty had already called him. He and Amanda are in New York City.
I feel like we've been blessed and fortunate that our group of friends hasn't dealt with too much tragedy over the years, but it just seems like this year has been brutal. I guess that goes with getting older.
I still think its very strange. Fahey, a 60 year old smoker, can play golf and then come home and mow the yard on Saturday when it was just as hot. Brendan, who was in very good shape, collapses. It had to have been a genetic defect that just caught up with him. You would have thought that 2-a-days in August in highschool would have been a problem. Crazy. I guess we will never know.
Are they going to do an autopsy? It might show an enlarged heart or some other sort of genetic defect.
More scary news. The toxicology reports from Malissa's mom just came back last week. Her blood alcohol level at time of death was .85 -- comatose. But the ME sticks by his original declaration of the gunshot wound as cause of death. So unless a woman with a blood alcohol level that would kill 99.9% of the human population somehow managed to pick up a gun and fire it at herself then she was murdered, and her boyfriend would be the prime suspect. I can't remember if Rob said the DA reopened the case or was considering reopening the case. F'd up.
