The Weekly Trojan

Well, again it was a fairly uneventful week. I'm just waiting for this fantasy to be over, but all my classes are very good and I'm not having any trouble with the students. There is one 8th grader who is the poster child for whatever ADHD/ADD drug he's taking. It is so obvious the days that he doesn't take it that I should just send him to a quiet place at the beginning of class.

I'm getting a little bit of an eye opener in Calculus. As you may remember I teach Probs and Stats the first semester and then Intro to Calculus the second semester. I have to study to make sure I know what I'm talking about, but overall it's not too bad. Well, there is one student in our school who is taking AP Calculus through a special program where he watches a teacher at another school via a webcam. Well, he's having a bit of a hard time keeping up, so he was moved into my study hall class with the expectation that I would kind of "assist" him, like an independent study or something. Needless to say, only some of the questions can I answer off the top of my head. I've said, "I'm going to have to look into that" quite a few times. Still, he's a great guy, and seems happy that I'm helping so hopefully we'll all be better off in the long run.

No big plans for the weekend, just tring to watch as much football as possible and drink as many Old Fashion's as I can. Since it doesn't look like I'll be attending an AU game this year, I'm hoping to go to the Wisconsin/Indiana game next weekend. We'll have to see.

Dude, I'm here to assist the assistor. Having problems with limits, the chain rule, trigometric identities, substitution, convergence theorem.....I'm your man.

Yes, I need help with such problems as finding the limit of x/sinx as x approaches 0. I neglected to memorize that one.

l'hospital's rule my friend. Or are you pre-l'hospital?

We got new books this year, and I think they introduce it in Chapter 1. Last year we didn't cover it.

By the way, you just submitted evidence against your case that Hollywood portrays all Larry's as nerds. They could read this post and say, "we rest our case." We still love you though.

"We rest our case"

Classic James. But he's right Larry, we still love you.
