Don't let anyone fool you

For the most part, I'm a pretty good sport when it comes to the jokes about the south, rednecks, etc. Sure, I can get a little defensive, but southerners do the same to people who move there from other parts of the country. Still, from the moment I moved to Wisconsin, I've maintained that the only difference between Alabama and Wisconsin is the accent. To prove this, I reveal to you exhibit A: The Tournament of Destruction.


Yes, we went to a local speedway last night to watch amateur drivers compete in crazy events. As you can see by the cars, the purpose is to see a lot of crashing. Events include racing backwards, multiple cars chained together, and of course pulling a trailer (which might have a boat on it). To make things more exciting, a cement truck comes around and covers the track with soapy water. And of course, the grand finale was a demolition derby. All in all it was very entertaining. There was even aguy sitting in front of us with a shaved head and Bubba tatooed on it, along with other things. I'm thinking of giving some of my high school students a car to fix up so that I can compete next year. You can see all the pics here.
