For the most part, I'm a pretty good sport when it comes to the jokes about the south, rednecks, etc. Sure, I can get a little defensive, but southerners do the same to people who move there from other parts of the country. Still, from the moment I moved to Wisconsin, I've maintained that the only difference between Alabama and Wisconsin is the accent. To prove this, I reveal to you exhibit A:
The Tournament of Destruction.

Yes, we went to a local speedway last night to watch amateur drivers compete in crazy events. As you can see by the cars, the purpose is to see a lot of crashing. Events include racing backwards, multiple cars chained together, and of course pulling a trailer (which might have a boat on it). To make things more exciting, a cement truck comes around and covers the track with soapy water. And of course, the grand finale was a demolition derby. All in all it was very entertaining. There was even aguy

sitting in front of us with a shaved head and Bubba tatooed on it, along with other things. I'm thinking of giving some of my high school students a car to fix up so that I can compete next year. You can see all the pics
here.

the tournament of destrcution. Awesome. You are so much more cultured than me. I can't wait for you to move south to enlighten my life again.
Oh yes my friend. I have much knowledge to pass along.
Any thoughts on me being in Huntsville...golf?...cookout? I spoke with Fil and he will be in town as well.
I played golf at the pond last weekend. Its in pretty good shape. It lost quite a few trees in a storm last spring. $38 to ride is a pretty good price. Muni is alright as well. $32 to ride. I think both RTJ courses are about $55 to play. James, I will let you decide. We can have a cookout Saturday night at our house. We need to show it off to you guys while you are in town. Breakfast and golf in the morning, Cookout in the afternoon. Sounds like a plan.
Count me in for the golf! Oh wait...guess I'll have to take a pass. It sounds like you guys are going to have a great time together. We'll just have to hoist a cold Budvar or Pilsner Urquell in honor of the great Southern Tour of '06! By the way | definitely think that any trip up to Madison must coincide with the next Tournament of Destruction. That's a non-negotiable demand on my part.
Won't be much longer and we will be counting you in for golf!! I hope each day keeps getting better. I've been putting together a list of questions for you to answer upon your return.
