The Ballad of Sheila

Courtesy of Finebaum...it's Free Fallin' Mike Shula. It's definitely no Col. Reb is crying...but it's not too bad. And we sure need something to make us forget about last Saturday and look forward to this one.

For some reason I don't think we are going to play well this weekend. Maybe I'm still hung over from last weekend, but we looked horrible. Not that Bama's 14 points (from unleashing the beast and opening up the playbook) really spooks me, but we looked bad.

I agree Larry. It's hard to get excited about this game. We haven't showed any offense in any big game all year. We moved the ball on Florida but bogged down in the red zone and settled for FGs. Against Arky and Georgia we were absolutely never in the game in the second half. Against LSU (who still in my opinion is the best SEC team...Les Miles should be fired this year for not having that team in a position to play for the national title) we barely managed to get the ball past midfield more than twice. However, I'm not exactly sold on Bama's O. They keep talking about their "plucky" and "inspired" play in Baton Rouge Saturday night. Did I miss something. They lost by two touchdowns. They lost less than 14 days ago to Mississippi State. They struggled in wins over Vandy and Duke. Their most impressive win this year is over Hawaii. In fact, their only win over a team with a winning record is their win over Hawaii. Last I checked we were ranked, had beaten two teams in the top ten, not to mention a decent non conference win over a bowl bound team in Washington State. We have three RBs on our roster better than their starter. We have a quarterback with more big game experience than theirs. We have a better O line than them. Oh yeah, we also have a coaching staff that has won four straight over them and five of six. As bad as things looked on Saturday, the sun is still a lot brighter in Auburn right now (metaphorically speaking of course seeing as how there is a monsoon covering the entire Gulf region) than it is in Tuscalooser. See, all I needed to do was focus on everything going wrong at uat rather than look at what is wrong with Auburn. That makes me feel better.
