It's all over but the crying

Well, after weeks of everyday being a Saturday, I'm finally back at work. I'm actually pretty excited and it felt pretty good to be back at school. I'm hoping not to have a Sophmore slump and maybe even improve a little.

I haven't checked the weather, but hopefully everyone is doing OK after Katrina swept across MS, AL and I guess GA. Phil, how are things in J-town?

Only 4 days until AU kicks off. I'll be attending a wedding and reception so I'll have to watch on tape delay. There's probably no way I'll keep from hearing the score, but hopefully it will be a good game, i.e. AU winning by 21 points.

What a mess in the gulf. I can't believe that New Orleins is under water. From the sounds of it, the prevention for such an event has been out of theminds of everyone for a long time. The pumps used in the city were made circa 1900 - no lie. The levees have not been maintained for the last 15 years - federal turned it over to the state - too expensive to maintain for the state. The whole city is under water. I guess the hotel where I punted Boner in the face is no longer there.

Ahhh the Days Inn French Quarter. That was a nice room. Until my blood was spilled and the curtains were ripped down. I'm just glad Kevin didn't bring any of his new "friends" from the gay bar back with him.

As for N.O. and the gulf coast in general...wow is about all you can say. No power in N.O. for 2-6 weeks??? That's insane. Water is still rising in certain parts of town. Larry you remember how insanely hot that town was in late September. I cannot imagine what a sauna of filth and disease that city will be (even more so than normal) in the next 10-14 days.

I saw on the news this morning that the police were actually encouraging the looters because it was the only way they were going to get food and water. Cue Calvin the Cabby here: That's Scary!
